SHANE REMER
Owner & President
Shane Remer, owner and president of Cornerstone Geomatics, LLC, is a 1996 graduate of Idaho State University - School of Applied Technology, Civil Engineering Technology. This is where his love of surveying began.
Shane’s career in surveying began before he had graduated from college. He was hired by a successful company based in Blackfoot, Idaho, as a survey technician, where he learned much and was accepted not only as a surveyor but as a part of their family. Shane was promoted to a survey manager position and thoroughly enjoyed his 18 years of employment. In August of 2014, Shane decided to take the leap and follow his dream of starting his own land surveying business. He gives all the credit to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The unwavering support of Shane's wife, Shelle, and the counsel from an endeared family member helped to give him the confidence needed in moving forward. Shane has never forgotten where he started.
Cornerstone Geomatics, LLC, is a culmination of the experiences learned in the first 18 years of surveying projects. This knowledge is used to survey the simplest of boundary surveys to the more complex construction layout projects and everything in between. Shane loves the many facets of land surveying which is what keeps him passionate about the profession. A favorite part of surveying for Shane is coming alongside clients and guiding them through the challenges that their project may have and providing a path forward to completion.
Shane is associated with the Idaho Society of Professional Land Surveyors (ISPLS) in which he has served as the Eastern Section Secretary, as well as the Vice Chairman and Chairman. Shane was awarded the ISPLS Surveyor of the Year in 2019. He is also associated with the National Society of Professional Surveyors and has served on the Idaho State University - College of Technology advisory board for the Civil Engineering Technology department.
Shane is very proud to be a surveyor and doesn’t miss a chance to share his passion for the profession with others. He attributes this passion from the Lord, those that instructed him in college, and the colleagues he has been blessed to work alongside for the last 29 years.

mark chavez
Surveyor
Mark grew up in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School and attended Idaho State University. He eventually found his way to Twin Falls, Idaho.
Mark got his start into the surveying world off a chance meeting that changed his path forward in life. He met a man that owned a surveying company that simply said, “If you can swing a hammer, you can come work for me, even if it’s just until you find something else”. With that, his survey career started.
Mark instantly fell in love with the surveying industry, more specifically the property boundary side. One of the first jobs that he was on required a section breakdown. It happened to be in the mountains and essentially, he got to hike around a mountain and explore while being paid.
Mark has been in the field of surveying now for eight years. Two and a half years of which have been with Cornerstone Geomatics. Mark now gets to explore Eastern Idaho from a whole new perspective. Not only did he come home as far as his roots go but he feels that he has come home to a company that has become his family.
Mark looks forward to his future in surveying because of the non-stop growth that is required. Advancing technology, education, and growth is something that doesn’t stop coming no matter what phase of career we are in. Let the adventures and exploring continue.
